God is at Work
Last fall I provided some grief training for members of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association. It was for unit presidents and other members released by their units to support teachers. Months later, this June, I was able to go back to a provincial meeting as an observer. While I was there, several unit presidents told me how useful the fall training had been and how it had helped them to support their members who were coping with grief. It meant so much to me to hear this! Those moments when you discover that the reason you do what you do truly matters to others are an inspiration to keep on doing the work. But even more than that, these moments are a powerful reminder that God is always at work. Long after your speaking engagement, after you put your book in someone's hands, after the phone call, after the training session, he is moving in hearts and minds. It's a reminder to me that even when I feel discouraged, I simply need to keep doing what God asks me to and trust him to do the rest. I may not always see the effects, but I can be confident that God uses our service for the benefit of others.
