God is Good
Yesterday I had the honour of speaking to a group of FABBO ladies at Beausejour Community Church. In case you're new to my blog and you're wondering, FABBO means Fabulous! (not Fall Artisan Blueberry Bakers Organization, in case that's what you thought! ).
It was a wonderful day and I left knowing that God had been at work. Before Mikael died, I would never have imagined standing in front of groups of women, sharing my story, sharing his love and work in my life. I would never have considered writing the books I have written and starting a website or be here right now writing this blog entry. I am reminded of Romans 8: 28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." I am once again amazed at God's goodness. That he took the most horrific thing that has happened to me and woven his goodness in to it, woven his purpose in, created something beautiful out of my loss and used my gifts to reach out to help others. Only God could do that.
This verse is often misinterpreted and people think God deliberately does bad things to them in order to make something good come from it. SO NOT TRUE. God does not do bad things to us! He wants good for us. That is what this verse reminds us of. He wants good for us so much that even when bad things happen, he takes it and works through it to come to a place of purpose and beauty in our lives. In essence, God can take a scrap of dirty, wet, trodden on fabric out of the gutter and weave it into an exquisite tapestry that takes the breath away from those who gaze upon it. God is good. All the time.
